The Regional Annual General meeting

will be held on

Sunday 1 st October 10 am to 4 pm (with a short meeting during the lunch break)

We are delighted to announce that Heather Mason will be the guest tutor at this year’s event, giving us an opportunity to practice with Heather and share her wealth of knowledge and beliefs. Heather is the founder of the Minded Institute. Here is a snippet of her background taken from the Mind Institute web site.

The Institute is a culmination of Heather’s personal and professional work. After years of deep depression and anxiety Heather moved to South East Asia to begin intensive meditation practice in Buddhist monasteries, where she spent 3 years developing and transforming her mind.  During this time she also trained as a 500 hr yoga teacher and shared her yoga teaching with nuns in various meditation centres.

In 2003 she moved to the UK to undertake an MA in Buddhist Studies at SOAS University London followed by an MA in Buddhist-Based psychotherapy.  Whilst studying Heather realised she was more interested in using mind-body therapies practices and took a sabbatical from her MA to study yoga therapy.  Soon after she developed an 8 week course for depression, anxiety, and stress, combining the insights of therapeutic yoga, mindfulness, and psychotherapy.

She was the first person in the UK to train to teach trauma sensitive yoga under the guidance of the Boston Trauma Center.  In addition to leading the Minded Institutes 500 professional yoga therapy training, she specialises in using mind-body techniques in the treatment of trauma, anxiety, and teaches professionals how to use physiological assessment to determine appropriate yoga therapeutic practices for clients.

Currently Heather is focused on forging a the bridge between yoga and health care and lobbies with the All Party Parliamentary Group in the House of Commons towards this end

We can certainly look forward to a fascinating day with Heather!

The event will take place at Langtree School in Woodcote, RG8 0RA, which is located on the border of Oxfordshire and Berkshire, so conveniently accessible to the whole region. It will be popular so please book early to ensure you have a place, either through the events page or drop Vanessa (Vanessa.lynch@btinternet.com) an e-mail to add your name to the attendee list.
